the murtaugh list

In last night's episode of How I Met Your Mother, we discover Ted's "Murtaugh List," a list of things you're too old to do when you reach 30.

I've pretty much done all, with a few exceptions.

get ears pierced - got two holes in each ear

do laundry at parent's house - all the time in college

crash on someone's futon instead of getting a hotel- someone always lets me sleep in their bed with them. either way, I'm crashing and avoiding the hotel part

put off going to the doctor - always. This reminds me, I still have to get my results when I got tested back in January.

drink shots with strangers - in Vegas

leave an annoying 2-person message on answering machine - just a couple of months ago, I wasn't planning on receiving any important/formal calls

help someone move out of a 6-foot walk up in exchange for pizza and beer - It wasn't a six-foot walk up. It was on the 4th floor w/ an elevator, but we did carry/drag some furniture and a bunch of luggage and a book case from Park Slope, down into the subway, got off at atlantic/pacific stop, up those stairs, and into a new apartment in fort greene. Now this has to count. And she bought me Uncle Louie G ice cream.

dye hair a funny color - never had the urge to color it blue or green or anything, but maybe one day, just to cross this off the list
EDIT: Great point by Ella Everywhere, I've had really harsh blonde streaks that did not suit me at all.

go to a rave - yup

pull an all-nighter - yup, to attend the above, and a couple in college

beer bong - I don't like beer

lazer tag
- of course

10 out of 12, not bad.
Edit: 11 out of 12!

How many have you completed?

It's been a crazy 24 hours. and today is moving by pretty quickly.

Saw the cutest boy yesterday. Parachute came to the office to play for us. They were amazing and so cute...

then the boyfriend was in pain all last night and found out he had kidney stones...

and my aunt's water broke (three weeks early).

My aunt and the baby are fine, but the baby is a bit underweight.

Dramatic huh? more updates later.

It's always the last two hours of the day that I just can't seem to sit through.

I just spent the last 30 minutes adding movies to the Watch Instantly queue. Netflix really uped their database on this. I <3 it.

yawn

I have absolutely nothing to do today.

All my weekly calls that usually happen on Thursdays moved up to yesterday so today will be one LONG BORING day. Maybe I should go shopping during lunch.

Yesterday, I netflixed Happy-Go-Lucky. The main character came off really annoyingly happy, but then she grew on me. And she got cuter at the end too. I love how she goes with the flow and doesn't really let anything get her down.

Zoe: You can't make everyone happy.
Poppy: There's no harm in trying that Zoe, is there?

prom

Back when I went to prom, the dresses were more... prommy. They don't look like they're going to prom, they are ready for a night in Hollywood. With that said, I <3 all these looks.

summer 2010

I decided I'm going to travel the world. I'm going to quit my job, buy a one way ticket to ___, and take it from there... (summer of 2010).

How much money should I save to start off? If all fails, I will become an Au Pair.

monday mourning

And it's the start of a new week... I can already tell this week is going to be a drag. I couldn't seem to get up this morning. The cold might have something to do with it. So here I sit, bored, wishing companies allowed spring break.

I'm excited for the new season of My Boys.

For the DVD release of Twilight today. Unfortunately, I preordered it from Borders, and will most likely receive it next week in the mail.

I accidentally turned off my phone alarm when I tried to snooze it and ended up waking up an hour late for work. This is the worst way to a day. Now there is just something off about today. I'm just glad it's a Friday.

It's going to be a quiet weekend with most of my friends being in the desert. They are either partying their last days of spring break in Palm Springs, celebrating a birthday in Vegas, or raving it up in San Bernardino at How Sweet. This makes me seem like a homebody, but I'm still healing. Sunday, I am going to my first baby shower. I bought my aunt and her unborn baby girl a light pink (how cliche) minnie mouse onesies, a sippie cup and a stuffy Pooh and Piglet. Hope she likes it, and by she, I mean my aunt. She is not too girly, and I might be the only chance this baby has if she wants a barbie in the future. =)

It was my friend Jess' birthday last month and a few of us decided to get her a birthday slash house warming present. She just bought a cute one-bedroom in Bedstuy, NY. Thanks to Aubrey for designing this.

Behind the art: Since I'm on west coast and Jess, Nas and Terry are in NY, we only get a change to meet up for during summer holidays. Last year we went to Atlantic City and we wanted Aubrey to incorporate all of us and our times together. (My initials are in the front light pink balloon). She did a great job and maybe I will have to get little something done for me and the boyfriend.

Boyfriend's birthday

The boyfriend is turning 24 today.

He is no longer in the 'early twenties' category. He is practically mid-twenties now. I feel kind of bad because I don't have any tricks up my sleeves this year. I usually have some sort of surprise for him, but today, rien. Well not exactly nothing, I am going to run out at lunch and get him some cupcakes. But it sucks that he has nothing to unwrap tonight since I already bought him the PS3 and he couldn't wait until his birthday to get it.

I am currently reading the 500 Days Of Summer screen play and I LOVE IT. I can't wait til the movie comes out. (7/17/09)

Green for luck

I crave this, despite it looking only half as appetizing as red velvet.

Green Velvet

Happy St. Patrick's Day

West Side Story

The Sharks and the Jets mark out a piece of urban turf while simultaneously expressing the joy of being young, vigorous, and able to kick ass. As Bernardo, in red, Rodrigo Santoro (Behind the Sun) leads fellow Sharks played by Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder) and Jay Hernandez (Grindhouse, Hostel, Ladder 49). The Jets’ leader, Riff, in yellow, is played by Chris Evans, equally hot-headed in the role of the Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. Rounding out his crew are Cam Gigandet (The O.C., Twilight), Drake Bell (yes, the Drake, of Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh), and Robert Pattinson (Edward in Twilight, Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). They are not fully visible but they don’t mind, because they know the maxim, “There are no small parts, only small actors.”

Between Maria (Camilla Belle, far left) and Tony (Ben Barnes, far right, also known as Prince Caspian), it is dancing, dancing, dancing. Latin steps predominate on the left, as the Sharks and their ladies give America a taste of the culture to come. On the right, we have a series of funky Anglo moves, as the Jets and their gals go rhythmically at it. On either side, our two tragic protagonists have eyes only for each other. The lead Sharks dancers are Anita (J.Lo, in an incredible pose) and Bernardo (Rodrigo Santoro). The Jet girl dancing with Riff (Chris Evans) is played by Ashley Tisdale (of High School Musical fame). Rounding out the Sharks, left to right: Minka Kelly (she’s Lyla on Friday Night Lights), Jay Hernandez, Natalie Martinez (Death Race), Brandon T. Jackson, Melonie Diaz (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints). On the Jets’ side: Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Shane Lynch (she’s gonna be big), Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet, Trilby Glover (88 Minutes), Brittany Snow (Hairspray), Drake Bell.

Before West Side Story takes its tragic turn, Anita (Jennifer Lopez, amazing in purple) drives the film’s most effervescent and sexually charged scene: the rocking rooftop song-and-dance sequence set to “America.” The lyrics, by a young Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, etc.), give Anita all the ammunition she needs to top the verbal thrusts and parries delivered by Bernardo (Rodrigo Santoro, to the left of J.Lo) and his band of toughs. From left to right: Jay Hernandez, Brandon T. Jackson, Sean Faris, Shane Lynch, Melonie Diaz, Minka Kelly, Natalie Martinez.

Tony (Ben Barnes) is trying to leave behind his old street-fighting ways … which is tough for him to pull off, now that he has fallen in love with Maria (Camilla Belle), who happens to be the sister of top Shark Bernardo. But tonight is a night for a serenade. A fire escape takes the place of a Veronese balcony, but the underlying emotions that have brought Tony and Maria out of their enemy camps are the same ones that fired Romeo and Juliet, not to mention James Carville and Mary Matalin.

celebrate love

What do twenty-something girls talk about when they stay up til 3 am talking?
Their weddings of course.

I know I never imagined my wedding when I was a little kid, and the first real memory of wedding talk was probably in high school, planning/hoping to get married by the time I'm 26.

Boy have my plans changed. Sucks to say that I've become more cynical.

If I've found the person I want to spend my life with, instead of getting married, can I just have a celebration? Sort of like an anniversary celebration, without the wedding/marriage part?

My friend said that when you know, you'll just know, the being in love and spending your life together part. I guess I don't know yet

Anyways, in the mean time, I've been planning my "celebration" already.

I'm going to have Moon River and Sade - By your side on the playlist.

I am absolutely in love with Sara Bareilles. Thanks to E for inviting me to go to The Hotel Cafe with her tonight. I had an amazing time. Raining Jane and Tony Lucca opened and they were amazing as well.

Long Friday

I barely got to work this morning and I KNOW, that today will be one of those long dragging Fridays (And I have no plans tonight so it's not a long because of anticipation).

It is Friday the 13th (2nd month in a row) and I've had both good and bad luck already... and it's not even 9am yet.

A guy offered to buy my coffee (and a cookie) this morning.

How NICE of him. He said because I gave him the right-of-way back in the parking lot, he wanted to do something nice back. That's so sweet of him. Of course I didn't let him pay for it. It wasn't like I went out of my way to let him through

The bad part came when I made a sharp turn and spilled some of that coffee in my car.

But hopefully that nice offer and the sugar from my coffee will carry my spirits throughout the day.

I'm still contemplating if I should stay in the city after work to wait for traffic to die down. Maybe I'll just catch a flick after work. Sunshine Cleaning or The Edge of Love opens today.

<3

I'm thinking of going back and reading New Moon, hoping to like it better the second time. E said it was one of her favorites, but Bella was so pathetic in the 2nd one I couldn't stand it. What a drama queen. I cringed too many times.

There are always unattractive pictures posted of Robert, and everyone always asks me why I like him. I know he can look like a douche sometimes, but then he redeems himself with photos like these. I'm sure he looks even better in person too.

Sunshine...

Happy Birthday Cheldy! Since I missed her birthday celebration on Saturday, we had plans to meet at The Grove for her actual birthday. We planed to eat at The Farm, which is right next to the theatre, and as the the theatre entrance came to view, I noticed there was a red carpet event. As I walked closer, I saw that it's the premiere for Sunshine Cleaning.

And I saw Emily Blunt looking fabulous standing next to Amy Adams being interviewed. We were instructed to move along, and not stand and stare. So we were heading towards Nordstrom when an Overture rep came over and asked if we wanted to attend the screening. Too bad that there were only available seats in the front section. And since it was Cheldy's birthday, I didn't want to make her watch Sunshine Cleaning, (not really her type of movie). So we walked out and and Emily make eye contact with me just as she gets in the elevator. And then walking out, I saw Amy heading in, looking fab in her white pant suit. I should have been on the look out for John Krasinski. Man it's embarrassing how star struck I get.

So we didn't end up watching the movie, but I'm sure it's good. I'll catch it on opens on March 27th.

Happy Friday

I love leaving work early on Fridays.

This leaked out. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens as Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora.

I thought it could've been so much better.. I hope this is not the final pose.

This one is my favorite.

I love it when the weekend is here. Since my birthday, my weekends have been pretty low key and mellow (just the way I like). But tomorrow we're celebrating a good buddy's birthday and I'm really lazy to get dressed up. I know once I'm dressed and heading to Hollywood, I'll be excited and ready to have a good time, but I'm such in a mellow mood right now, I just want to stay in my 'PINK boyfriend pants' all weekend.

This is what I want to all weekend.

Risk takers, rule breakers, style makers

I need a break from the crazy boss. She is driving me nuts. I am rebelling by not doing my work and blogging instead. I really want some cookies right now. E gave me some of her stolen Soup Plantation chocolate chip cookies yesterday and I think I opened a can of worms. I settled for some Porto's coffee cake that was given to a nearby department.

For Glamour's 70th anniversary issue, Glamour is celebrating seven decades of female risk takers, rule breakers, and style makers.

I guess this will be a Keira Knightley post

Not sure when it appeared, but The Edge of Love is finally on the release schedule for March 13, 2009 (next week). You can watch the trailer if you click this link: The Edge of Love

I tried to find a stream for it, but it gave me a virus...
