the Holidays

It's that time of year when my Netflix queue is lined up with all my favorite holiday movies. So far, I've watched

It's a Wonderful Life
Bridget Jone's Diary
Love Actually
Serendipity

Up on deck:
The Holiday
The Family Man
Miracle on 34th Street
A Christmas Story
Four Christmases (but this one has a very long wait)

It's almost the end of the year, and I am wrapping up 2009 (the year of many vacations) in IRELAND! One last HOORAH for 2009, and my very first trip to Europe. There is just one big problem. Apparently, I will be the only one not use to the Irish cold weather (coming from California and all). And T wants me to dress cute? How do I pack...
a. cute clothes
b. warm winter clothes
c. winter shoes (boots)
d. NYE party outfit

into one carry-on bag? Can it even be done? I am Ms. Overpacks but I really do not want to deal with losing my bags in the mess we call Holiday Traveling. (Knock on wood.)

Nicholas Sparks

The Notebook was the first real movie that I walked out of the theater BALLING! I mean, non-stop crying. Usually when I cry in movies, it's just tears, but this one... I couldn't stop crying... At one point, I wasn't difficult to breathe.

The Last Song trailer

Dear John

I really hope no one dies in either of these upcoming movies. Usually someone dies in Sparks' stories.

Leap Year

I fell in love with Matthew Goode in Chasing Liberty and I think I am falling in love with him all over again.

I can't wait til New Moon. I'm still trying to see if I can sneak into an early screening, but I guess I can wait til Thursday the 19th, 9pm. Although the exhaustion at work the next day will be worth it, I'm so glad it's a 9pm showing instead of midnight.

I love her demure personality. No wonder she was voted homecoming queen.

Happy Halloween

My NY friends are in town and they are outlet shopping without me. (I couldn't steal a day from work since I've depleted my time-off days.) I'm so excited to party with them for Halloween! We've decided to take the easy route this year and make our own sailor costumes. I need help on the shoes though. To match or to comfort?

If my friends and I ever decide that we are over the whole Halloween scene, we will turn to entertaining ourselves in a different Halloween style:

Party hard! Stay warm in those "naughty [insert character]" costumes!

Coco

I finally watched Coco avant Chanel.

This is exactly the kind of film I love to watch, significant stories about real people and their affairs. And you love everything that happens in the movie until you go home to google more about the love story and realize what you saw was not exactly the truth. Of course things were changed to enhance the movie experience, but I can't help but want what I saw to be exactly the truth. (Same situation with Becoming Jane.)

Away We Go

Boys often dislike romcom because it maps out the "perfect relationship" that girls aspire their relationship to be like. Whether it is the bad boy turned good scenario, or the grand gesture in the rain, most girls want the Tom Hanks to their Meg Ryan, the Mr. Bigs of the world.

When I watch couples on screen, my favorite relationships are those that show love that will never fade, that even 30 years later, the love they had in their first year is still as strong in their 30th year together.

I just finished watching Away We Go. Bert and Verona go up there in my favorite on screen couple list, along with Noah and Allie (Notebook) and Jack and Kate (The Family Man).

I'm sad that I've neglected to blog. But it's a new season and I'm back!

I ended summer with a girls trip to Hawaii, a week of sun, sand, and adventure. We did everything you can possibly do (except skydiving and visiting a volcano [but in my defense, there weren't any active volcanoes on Oahu]). Having spent almost the entire summer indoors in the office, I forgot what it looked like to be tan. While most people's summer tan had faded away, mine's still staying strong... at least for another couple of weeks or so.

It finally cooled down and rained here in LA. It's officially fall now. Autumn is the type of season where you want to stay in and just hang out with your friends, bake some holiday treats and watch movies.

I'm probably really late to report, but I'm sad that Nine moved to December and I can't wait for this issue to come out.

Inglourious weekend

Yay, the weekend is here!

Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on some sleep and reset my clock to Cali time. I also want to catch up on my movies. I still haven't seen Julie & Julia and Time Traveler's Wife. I want the boyfriend to see (500) Days of summer so I could convince him to split a loft in downtown with me.

I just got a preview of an 1100sqft loft in downtown for $1450 a month. Now do I do move to LA for the next year, or just save my money so I can move to NY next spring? It's such a good deal that I don't want to let the opportunity pass, but I don't want to spend all my "New York move" savings.

Everyone should go watch Inglourious Basterds this weekend. I was so surprised that I really liked it. I went into it thinking, Tarantino is too gory for me, but this movie kicked ass. Diane Kruger is so cute, and I <3 Melanie Laurent.

Summer in full swing

Summer is almost over, but I'm just getting started.

I spent the first two weeks of August in China. A friend got married and almost the entire wedding party traveled around Asia afterward. We went to Beijing to hit up the The Great Wall, Summer Palace, Bird's Nest, etc. We also spend two days in Shanghai, but there wasn't much to do there but shop and eat.

Great Wall

Ja Ja Mein

Peking Duck

Shanghai

Famous Soup Dumplings in Shanghai

Everyone was passing some sort of bug around and I caught it at the end of our trip. I think I lost a good 7 lbs because of that. Not a great way to lose weight, but it got the job done. HAHA too bad it's taking me just as fast to put the weight back on. (Stupid yummy Wynn buffet)

Thank goodness for the jetlag because partying the entire weekend in Vegas would not have been possible without it. I've been wanting to go to Encore XS for the longest time and it really was one of the best times I had in Vegas! Now it's time to rest up until September rolls around. It's birthday month (4 to be exact). And then Hawaii!!!!

The September Issue

She rises daily before 6 a.m., plays tennis and has her hair and makeup done, then gets to Vogue's offices at 8 a.m. She always arrives at fashion shows at their scheduled starting time. "I use the waiting time to make phone calls and notes; I get some of my best ideas at the shows," she says. According to the BBC documentary Boss Woman, she is similarly efficient with her time elsewhere in her day, rarely staying at parties for more than 20 minutes at a time and getting to bed by 10:15 every night.

Marion fuckising

Marion Cotillard on Craig Ferguson on Monday, June 22nd to promote Public Enemies.

Also, in an interview for Telegraph UK:

When I ask if she is still in a relationship with a well-known French actor she looks coy and then laughs. 'Yeah, I am. I'm not a liar. I couldn't say no, because if he reads that he will call and say, "Eh, what's going on?" ' But later, when discussing her film projects, she can't help giving herself away when she proudly mentions a forthcoming role in 'a French movie, with the director of Tell No One, Guillaume Canet'. She slides me a look, and then lets out a raucous belly laugh. 'Voilà!'

bad news and emma (unrelated topics)

What a horrible news days. Left and right everyone is breaking my heart. Boss came in today and told me one of my celebrity crush is a deep in the closet gay. Found out an ex hook up might be one of the few guest that will be going to China for the wedding (and traveling after the Wed). Found out my vacation buddies booked a vacation in Poconos for 4th of July, and it's too late for me to join them (although they offered to help me with my air tickets).

And the bf is leaving for Canada for the week.

The recent lack of posts have been the result of an uneventful June. But full summer mode is in gear now. Just got back from a weekend in Vegas. Went with the boyfriend and his parents.

True Story
Me and his parents took a walk through the shops in Bellagio after lunch on Saturday (bf was golfing). Me and his mom were in Chanel when his dad came in and told us to follow him to see a really nice bag that he thinks she (mom) would like. We walk into Hermes and the sales girl brought us the Kelly bag. A few minutes later, the dad said to the sales girl, "We'll take it. And the matching wallet to."

HOW AMAZING would it be to be able to drop $10k on a whim like that.

I didn't get to check out Encore's XS like I wanted to, so I feel another Vegas trip coming up soon.

Next on deck is EDC. I haven't yet finalized my plans for 4th of July, but I'll think of something.

Yay for summer!

(bf came back from a $200 dollar loss)

a whole new world

I spent the entire day at Disneyland yesterday, I hadn't done that since 2004. We covered so much. I kicked everyone's ass in the new Toy Story 3D game, watched Aladdin, Tower of Terror, kicked everyone's ass again in the Buzz Lightyear game, Indy, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn, Nemo, and Haunted Mansion again.

One of the best things that happened yesterday was that I found a hidden Mickey ALL BY MYSELF in the Haunted Mansion. My friend already knew of one, and that was quite easy to spot, and miraculously, in the next room, I found another one, but I wasn't too sure. So we had to ride it again to confirm. Definitely, there are at least two hidden mickeys in the mansion, and three in the total that I know of.

If anyone knows of any others, please shoot them my way =)

The reason why I am completely exhausted this morning is because we stayed for the new summer nightastic fireworks show. I <3 fireworks.

I came across these this morning, and since they're Disney related, I might as well post to give this entry some color.

I love watching people dance but I have never followed an entire season before. (You can't stream it online, I don't have the time to watch it when it airs, and I don't have dvr.)

But I am going to try to catch it on youtube every week.

Made some important life decisions recently. I've decided I was tired of Los Angeles and it's horrible dry weather. Most likely I will be making the move back to NY by fall. I wish I could move back sooner since all the fun stuff happens in the summer but with my China trip in August, and my Hawaii trip in September, it will be more convenient to stay in the area.

I am on a NY job hunt. Know anyone that's hiring?

ON a side note, Everyone needs to go watch The Hangover. It's a really funny movie and Bradley Cooper rocks my socks. He definitely redeemed himself from his Sack Lodge character in Wedding Crashers and from cheating on Connelly in He's Just Not That Into You.

two months and counting

I have two months to look fabulous for my vacations.

I went to my first cycling session yesterday... My legs were so wobbly after, I could barely drive home.

It was an awesome work out though. I am devoting at least two days a week to a class and two days for just regular 30 minute cardio. This will be the minimum. Of course I want to try to hit the gym everyday, but with a busy schedules, I mustn't set unreachable goals.

Old Montreal opens New Options

My days are all out of order because of Memorial Day. Needless to say, I'm glad it's already Wednesday.

Over Memorial Day weekend, I took the red eye on Friday and jetted to Montreal to meet up the NY besties. The trip was very relaxing and it's been awhile since I've had that much fun. I had family there so we got to stay for free. They also fed us too.

My cousin and his wife's house was amazing. It was a newly custom built house in Laval (just over the river was Montreal). 550k. Three story, 4 bedrooms, a den, 4.5 baths, a basement... 550k! Forget getting a dinky place in LA, lets move to Montreal.

Saturday after our nap, and a home cooked breakfast, we went hiking just behind Sainte-Catherine and got to see the view of Montreal. Spent all night at a bar downtown and ate Harveys right before cabbing it back. Ate Pho the next day, and let me tell you, Jess can eat. She ate an x-large bowl and devoured everything, even the soup. We then walked through China town towards Old Montreal. I love that it looked like a street in Europe, with cobblestones and everything.

It was really fun catching up with Terry, Jess, and Nasim. They keep on asking me to move back to NY. Should I? I'm really tempted to. Terry's roommate is moving out in August, and has a spare room available. I feel like I have so many choices for my next move in life, I don't know which one will be the right choice. I need to make a pro-con list.
