Emmys 2011
I'm still recovering from working all weekend, backstage at the Emmys in the HP Touchsmart gift lounge. Our days were long and I was running on coffee and chocolates. But I left with a free pair of Cult of Individuality Vintage jeggings, and a whole new set of celebs that I think are cool and chill. Cobie Smulder! Chris Noth, Tracy Morgan, Don Cheadle, Kevin Dillon, The Lonely Island boys. I saw Adrian Grenier... and he looked good!!!! Brought me back to my Drive Me Crazy days.
Celebrities are really tiny in person. They look so tall on screen, but they're all really short... plus or minus 5'10. I was very disappointed. And a lot of their heads are too big for their bodies. This is what happens when thin is in. Megan Mullally is the perfect size imo.
my favorite looks of the night:
I was on my way to the bathroom, and I saw Cobie Smulder and Kate Flannery walking out of their dressing room in all dressed up. I told them they looked amazing, and Cobie was distracted but Kate thanked me. HAHA look at me, sounding like a fan girl.

traveling keeps me sane
I'm such a travel junkie. I just got back from a year in Taiwan. During that year, I went to Seoul, Hong Kong (3 times), and Cambodia. I just got back to Cali about 3 months ago, and I already went to Vegas and New York.
I will be going up to San Francisco for a long weekend on the first weekend of October. I'm going to go back to NY and spend Halloween weekend there. And now, I just booked flights to Costa Rica for the end of April 2012! $270 round trip! How can you say no to that? A girl's trip... for all NINE of us!
Time to google what there is to do in CR!
Edit: I know why tix are so cheap... OFF SEASON!

New Girl
I saw this trailer earlier this summer and I could not wait for this series to start. I absolutely love Zooey Deschanel. She & Him are amazing, and she was so relatable in 500 Days of Summer. Here is the link to the pilot: New Girl.
After watching the pilot today, I have to say that I do not love it. The idea of an awkward geeky girl trying to figure herself out is a great idea. I understand girls can me quirky, but I think Zooey takes Jess on a whole new level, almost cringe-able. Hopefully they have improved her character for the next episode. I guess I'm a little biased since I thought Summer was so chill and cool. Her character Jess is the complete opposite of her character Summer.
Out of all the guys, I think I like Nick, Jake M. Johnson's character, the best. (Spoiler alert) He was so quick to forget the party and make sure Jess was ok! He's probably my favorite out of the three boys so far. I will stayed tuned for the next episode.

picky or judgemental?
I haven't been single for the past 8 years, my first real boyfriend Cal, that lasted for about a year, and then straight into a relationship with S, which lasted for about 6 1/2 years. I'm not sure even how to be single. I keep hearing that it was easier to be single while you're in school. Well, I'm not in school anymore. Where do I meet people? Well I can tell you being abroad is a great way of meeting new people. And lucky for me, there was a cute aussie to keep my mind occupied.
Two of my girlfriends have never had a boyfriend and always complain that thier love lives are at a standstill. It's because they're too narrow minded and judgmental. This past weekend was the birthday of two different girlfriends of mine. We had dinner at C&O Trattoria in Marina del Rey. We then went to a few bars afterwards. One of my girlfriends (she falls in the first category mentioned) is allergic to alcohol so she was completely sober. She wanted to head back early than the rest, so on our way back, a really cute guy came up to me and started to chat me up. It only took him a few minutes to score my number. (He's taking me out tonight night ^.^) But I told my other friend this, and told them that if she was put in that position, she would have just laughed it off and tried to get away from the guy as fast as possible. She would not dare to give him her number, not even a name, probably. This is the difference between me and my girlfriends. And the thing is that it's not as if they were shy. I am shy, especially in front of the guys I have attractive... i.e. Aussie. They are just narrow minded and not opened to the dating world. They believe that the romcom fairytale will happen.

There's the dream of someone else
This year, the first day of autumn falls on September 23. But with the weird weather suddenly dropping 10 degrees, it sure feels like fall. My favorite movie to kick off the season: You've Got Mail. I bet the city is beautiful in the fall.
In the movie, Kathleen Kelly says, "There's the dream of someone else."
I am a big daydreamer and currently starring in my daytime brain activities is my current 'someone else'... a tall, fun, good-looking, well dressed, accented Aussie. It's always fun to have a crush. I haven't had a real crush since before I got with the ex bf, so I'm definitely enjoying it. The downside is that he's abroad and there is no real way of feeding my crushivity. Hence, the daily daydreams.

I'm not the same girl I was two years ago
I'm back in full force! I'm sorry to have neglected such an amazing titled blog. I was just browsing through the albums of a recently reactivated facebook--the facebook of the (now) ex boyfriend-- and came across a photo of me at NYE 2007 where he captioned it "Sassy McSasserson." So it lead me to google, and this blog was the top search! And to think that I've been neglecting this for almost 2 years. Have no fear, I am two years wiser, single, more cultured (seeing that I spent the last year abroad in Asia), and have a whole new attitude on life. Watch out blog world!
But to be fair, I didn't neglect to jot down my galavantry. I spent the last year abroad in Taiwan and it was the most amazing year I've ever experienced. Over the past year, I've met some amazing people from all over the world, traveled through Asia, learned Chinese Mandarin (from the ground up), spilt with my going-on-7-years boyfriend, improved my alcohol tolerance, and fell in love with living abroad.
So I'm back in Cali, already anticipating my next move abroad (we're thinking Australia, Spain, possibly Taiwan again). Stay tuned.

the Holidays
It's that time of year when my Netflix queue is lined up with all my favorite holiday movies. So far, I've watched
It's a Wonderful Life
Bridget Jone's Diary
Love Actually
Serendipity
Up on deck:
The Holiday
The Family Man
Miracle on 34th Street
A Christmas Story
Four Christmases (but this one has a very long wait)
It's almost the end of the year, and I am wrapping up 2009 (the year of many vacations) in IRELAND! One last HOORAH for 2009, and my very first trip to Europe. There is just one big problem. Apparently, I will be the only one not use to the Irish cold weather (coming from California and all). And T wants me to dress cute? How do I pack...
a. cute clothes
b. warm winter clothes
c. winter shoes (boots)
d. NYE party outfit
into one carry-on bag? Can it even be done? I am Ms. Overpacks but I really do not want to deal with losing my bags in the mess we call Holiday Traveling. (Knock on wood.)

Nicholas Sparks
The Notebook was the first real movie that I walked out of the theater BALLING! I mean, non-stop crying. Usually when I cry in movies, it's just tears, but this one... I couldn't stop crying... At one point, I wasn't difficult to breathe.
The Last Song trailer
Dear John
I really hope no one dies in either of these upcoming movies. Usually someone dies in Sparks' stories.
